SURREY COUNTY CHESS ASSOCIATION NEWS

2006
CCF were very disappointed to hear that the Surrey Congress organisers lost (or had stolen) 21 of our digital clocks, which were loaned to them free for their congress.  In addition CCF had given considerable practical support to the event.  Furthermore, CCF were very disappointed that neither the SCCA or Surrey Congress Ltd were prepared to accept liability for them and that Ben Ogunshola, a member of the committee, was lambasted very rudely for paying for the replacements out of his own pocket.  CCF would like to thank him for his more than generous act, which saved those liable considerable expense and enabled them to continue in competition with us.
2007
CCF are very disappointed to have had its offers of help ignored to be involved with the Surrey Congress this year.  These offers were made despite the events of last year.  CCFMindGames were not even asked to do the book stall.  It would appear that the congress organsisers are desperate to ignore CCF's existence and run the event without input from the biggest organisation in Surrey.

2008
CCF understands the Surrey County Chess Association's disappointment at being left with a
£400 deficit from their 125th anniversary celebrations.  CCF did offer the SCCA a free venue for this event and are disappointed that this was turned down for unjustifiable politcal reasons.

2009
CCF was disappointed that the SCCA chose to clash their 2009 annual league composition meeting, not only with a CCF club night, but also with the
Jessie Gilbert Celebration International.  It was suggested in defence that the SCCA didn't realise that we would be busy on a Monday in August, despite a former CCF member being on the board of directors (who would have known otherwise).
